Delaware dogs in need of homes for the holidays

Some good news about a group of neglected dogs seized last month on Sussex County.

Some good news about a group of neglected dogs seized last month on Sussex County.

A Millsboro man facing 18 counts of animal cruelty in the case signed over ownership of the 14 dogs to the Brandywine Valley SPCA Friday.

Now that the group has legal ownership, one of the dogs has been placed into foster care, and three more will be available for adoption Wednesday.

Brandywine Valley SPCA is seeking experienced fosters or rescues for the remainder of the dogs - noting those interested need to able to devote the time and energy to proper training and reconditioning

The dogs were seized when Delaware Animal Services responded to a tip over the Thanksgiving holiday.

Authorities called it “one of the worst neglect cases” - with four dogs found dead.  The 14 dogs rescued were in very poor condition – requiring immediate medical attention.

If you are interested in fostering or rescuing a dog, please call the Brandywine Valley SPCA or visit bvspca.org.
