Dover High wrestling booster charged with stealing funds

A former Dover High School teacher and wrestling booster is facing theft charges after police say he stole more than 15-hundred dollars from the school’s booster organization and from a team fundraiser.

Dover Police say 46-year-old Brian Ogbin charged $510 to a Dover High School Wrestling Booster debit card twice at Dover Downs casino. They also say he made three cash withdrawals at WaWa totaling another $220.

A fundraiser that brought in about $800 never made it to the school’s wrestling bank account, according to police – an event Ogbin was responsible for.

He turned himself in to Dover Police Friday morning and was released on a $200 unsecured bond.

Ogbin had taught math and science classes at Dover High School, and oversaw the school’s Special Olympics program. According to Capital School District school board minutes, he resigned in February.

Both theft charges are Class A misdemeanors, which each carry sentences of up to one year in jail and a $2,300 fine.
