Delaware State Police have arrested a Delaware Autism Program teacher for assaulting a student earlier this month.

The victim is a six-year-old male student at the Etta J. Wilson Elementary School in Newark. Delaware Autism Program contacted State Police last week regarding the incident that took place on October 16. Upon further investigation, police determined it was 52-year-old Anne Gullo, a teacher at the school, who pushed the male student, causing him to fall into a bookshelf. He suffered a minor back injury.

A warrant charged Gullo with child abuse of the second degree. She turned herself in to the detectives at Troop 2 in Glasgow. Then, she was arraigned at New Castle County Court of Common Pleas. Gullo was issued a $500 unsecured bail and was released.
