After a bit of an interruption last week, First State gas prices continued their downward trend over the past seven days.
Triple-A Mid-Atlantic reports Delaware drivers are paying $2.16 for a gallon of regular on average – down a nickel from last week.
It’s also a significant savings from this time last year when prices at the pump averaged $2.96.
Nationally, drivers saved a bit more money than the First State, with average price shedding six cents. A gallon of regular rings in at $2.26 across the country.
Delawaregasprices.com reports Dover still has the cheapest price statewide - with one station at $1.99 if you’re paying in cash.
Otherwise, New Castle County has the edge on the lower two counties when it comes to low gas prices – many advertising around $2.05 or less.
This is the third year in a row fuel costs have dropped in October due to increased supply and cheaper blends.
Triple-A officials still project gas dropping below $2.00 a gallon nationwide before the end of the year.
