First State gas prices jump for the first time in nearly a month

Delaware Public Media

First State gas prices jump for the first time in three weeks.

AAA Mid-Atlantic reports the average price for a gallon of regular in First State rose from $2.67 to $2.75 in the past week.

That price is still nearly a dollar less than what Delaware drivers were paying a year ago at an average of $3.67.

Delawaregasprices.com reports there are just under a dozen stations selling a gallon of regular for $2.67 or slightly less  – several of them are located in Kent County.

Delaware drivers are paying 6 cents above the national average, which dipped one cent to $2.79 since last week.

According to AAA officials, gas prices are rising in many areas around the country due to declining supply due to increasing demand. Refinery issues that have also limited production. However, the global oil market will likely remain oversupplied for the time being, which has kept prices this summer low compared to previous years.
