Delaware gas prices remain steady for the first week of June

Delaware Public Media

First State gas prices haven’t budged in the last week.

AAA Mid-Atlantic reports the average price for a gallon of regular in First State has remained steady at $2.67 since last week. That price is still nearly a dollar less than what Delaware drivers were paying a year ago at an average of $3.57.

Delaware-gas-prices-dot-com reports there are just under a dozen stations selling a gallon of regular for $2.58 or slightly less  – mostly in New Castle County.

Delaware drivers are paying 8 cents below the national average, which has inched up one cent at $2.75 since last week.  Even though the national average is at its highest so far this year, AAA officials expect that prices may drop in the coming weeks. This could occur due to stabilizing crude oil costs coinciding with the end of refinery maintenance season.

Gas prices during the month of June typically go flat or decrease as refineries finish up maintenance season. AAA says that motorists can expect to pay the cheapest summer gas prices since 2009.
