Gov. Markell taps Kerr for spot on Family Court

MacElree Harvey law firm

Governor Jack Markell (D-Delaware) has nominated a new judge to the Delaware Family Court.

Felice Kerr would fill the vacancy left by Michael Newell, an eleven-year veteran of the court who was promoted to chief judge.

Newell was confirmed by the state Senate and sworn in on Wednesday.

In a statement, the governor's office says Kerr is a family law attorney with more than two decades of experience in the state. Markell calls her "accomplished and well-respected."

The 50 year old Kerr is currently a managing partner at law firm MacElree Harvey in Wilmington, and runs an alternative dispute resolution practice
