Rehoboth's Funland will open for a full season this year

After a shortened season last year due to COVID-19, a Rehoboth Beach amusement park will be open this year for a full season.

Funland on the Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk will open for the season on Mother’s Day weekend, May 8th and will be open every weekend thereafter - to start - in May.

“So this year will look very much like last year (a shortened season)," said Chris Darr, the personnel manager for Funland. "We had to totally change how we operated the park with COVID - like many other businesses.”

Darr He notes that this year’s operation will include limiting the number of guests in the park at any given time.

“You will need to book a ride reservation to come and experience the rides," said Darr. "You will come check in and we’ll give you a wrist band and then you can ride all the rides that you’re eligible to ride based on height for a two-hour block.”

Darr says all reservations must be made through Funland’s website.

He also notes the midway and arcade games will be accessible via the boardwalk and can be enjoyed without having to purchase a Funland RIDEPASS.

Darr adds everyone except young children will be required to face a face covering. He goes on to say that hand sanitizer will also be available at each ride and at each game. And he notes they will have wandering rides and games cleaners as well to help keep everyone safe.

Ride reservations for May start Thursday, April 8 and June calendar dates will be available starting in mid-May.

Funland will be open every day starting Memorial Day weekend through the weekend after Labor Day.
