State Parks and Brandywine Zoo are free Friday

Delaware Public Media

The state is slashing prices today for Black Friday, but the deals don’t have anything to do with shopping. In fact, they’re meant to help Delawareans who want to avoid the shopping frenzy.

Delaware Department of Natural Resources Division of Parks and Recreation is offering free admission to state parks today, and the Brandywine Zoo is free to visit as well.

Officials say this is part an ‘Opt Outside’ event created by REI in 2015.

The state is participating by opening 15 of its state parks at 8 am this morning and waiving the cost of admission. Fort Delaware State Park is the only one remaining closed.

The Brandywine Zoo is also free to visit from 10 to 4.
