UD field hockey advances to NCAA title game

The UD field hockey team will play for the NCAA Division I championship.

 

The 8th ranked Blue Hens edged 14th ranked Princeton 3-2 on Friday’s national semi-finals.They’re headed to the NCAA title game for the first time.

 
Esmee Peet scored two goals including the game winner with a a minute and a half left.  Kiki Bink scored the Hens’ other goal as UD extended its team record win streak to 18.  That’s the longest current win streak in Division One field hockey.
 
Delaware faces Number 4 North Carolina for the national title at 1 p.m. Sunday at Old Dominion in Norfolk, Virginia.
 
UNC defeated 6th ranked UConn 2-1 in overtime in the other semifinal to advance.
