Wesley College's first football loss in 2015 proves costly

Wesley College is paying a price for its first loss of the 2015 football season.

The Wolverines’ 38-35 set-back against Salisbury Saturday in Dover knocked them down more than a few notches in the latest Division III polls.

Wesley fell from 4 to 11 in the D3football.com Top 25 this week, and from third to 12th in the new coaches’ poll.

It’s also put their streak of 10 straight appearances in the NCAA Division III football playoffs in jeopardy.

To secure the New Jersey Athletic Conference’s automatic bid to the playoffs, the 8-1 Wolverines need to win at 2-7  William Paterson and hope for a Salisbury loss to 6-3 Frostburg State.

If Wesley and Salisbury win, Salisbury takes the NJAC  title and league's playoff berth, and the Wolverines will have to hope for one of the six at-large bids available when the tournament field is announced this Sunday
