Superheroes, Ghostbusters and Hogwarts to invade Dover

Jeff Rodriguez
Delaware Ghostbusters will be on hand at Dover Comic Con

Geeks from across Delaware will convene in the state capital this weekend for the second Dover Comic Con.

More than 2500 people, many in costume celebrated their fandom at last year’s inaugural celebration of comics, cosplay and anime. Organizers predict up to 4000 enthusiasts this time around.

Comic Con started at the Dover Public Library in 2014. This year, the library has partnered with other community groups to make the event even bigger. Dover Comic Con will feature two artist alleys, panel discussions at the Biggs Museum and an outdoor market with vendors, fan groups and food trucks.

One presentation will offer a scenario by First State Heritage Park on what would happen if the time-traveler Dr. Who met Caesar Rodney and the Harry Potter Alliance, DE Chapter, will appoint a First State Potion Master.

There will be two costume contests one for children age 12 and younger and one for everyone else. Comic Con runs all day Saturday and kicks off Friday when the Delaware Ghostbusters arrive on scene with a replica of the movie’s Ecto-1 car.

Jeff Rodriguez of New Castle bought the car last year from the Oklahoma Ghostbusters chapter. The Ecto-1 will be on view at the Schwartz Center For the Arts for Friday's showing of the classic 1984 film.
