Former Blue Hen added to Eagles' roster

Former Blue Hen Michael Johnson is vying for a spot on?the NFL roster this pre-season.

Johnson, a first team all-Colonial Athletic Association wide-out last season for UD, was signed by the Philadelphia Eagles Monday.

A native of Gainesville, Fla., Johnson is currently taking part in training camp at the Eagles’ NovaCare Complex. He is one of 12 wide receivers on the Birds’ roster.

Johnson had 78 receptions for 830 yards a year ago for UD while serving as a team co-captain.

During his Blue Hen career, Johnson caught 182 passes and 14 touchdowns and piled up 5,008 all-purpose yards.He ranks No. 5 all-time at Delaware in receptions and No. 6 in receiving yards.

Johnson’s signing brings the total number of former Blue Hens in NFL camps this summer to 10 - a group that includes Ravens’ quarterback Joe Flaccoand Colts’ safety Mike Adams.
