Common Wealth Awards to honor three in 2015


Jon Bon Jovi, Edward Norton and Jimmy Wales will all be honored with Common Wealth Awards at the Hotel Dupont in Wilmington on April 25.

The Common Wealth awards are given to individuals who have improved society through their professional and personal endeavors. The three men are in good company, past award winners include Meryl Streep and Walter Cronkite.

Bon Jovi and Norton are each being honored in the category of public service, and Jimmy Wales, the founder of Wikipedia, is being recognized for his contributions to the field of Mass Communications.

The Common Wealth awards started thirty six years ago, and since then more than $6 million has been awarded to 192 honorees across eight different disciplines, including dramatic arts, literature, science and government.

The 2015 honorees will each receive an award of $75,000.
