Firefly Festival nears first-ever sell-out; expects 90K fans per day

The 2015 edition of the Firefly Festival may sell out months in advance.

Organizers from Red Frog Events say a strong demand for four-day passes to this June’s event - featuring Paul McCartney, The Killers, Kings of Leon - means Firefly is nearing the first sell-out in its four year existence.   Close to 90,000 fans are expected inside the festival grounds each day to see an eclectic mix of over 100 acts that also includes Foster the People, Morrissey, Snoop Dogg.

30,000 people attended Firefly in its first year. Just two years later that number rose as 80 thousand and the festival added an extra day and more space in 2014 at the Woodlands at Dover International Speedway.

Because of the increased demand, Red Frog says they won’t be offering single-day passes  – meaning anyone hoping to just see specific artists or headliners like McCartney will have to purchase passes for all four days.

Organizers also announced a limited number of $299 regular general admission passes remain before they jump to the Encore price of $329 as they get closer to selling out.

Red Frog also released the daily Firefly lineups – with Paul McCartney headlining Friday night followed Kings of Leon Saturday and the Killers closing out festivities Sunday.

Delaware hip hop trio Cypher Clique will play early on Thursday the 18th and Newark indie rock group Fiance will open Friday.
