DSU to play for NCAA Tournament berth Saturday

Delaware State is one win away from a trip to the NCAA Tournament.

The Hornets advanced to the MEAC tournament title game Saturday after upsetting top seed North Carolina Central 63-57 in the semi-finals Friday in Norfolk, Va.

The 5th seeded Hornets rallied from 13 down in the second half behind Amere May, who scored 24 of his 27 points in that second half.

DSU – now 18-16 this season - is headed to the league title game for the first time since 2007 and trying to earn it first NCAA tourney berth since 2005.

The Hornets face six seed Hampton in the MEAC final at 1pm.  Hampton upended second seed Norfolk State 75-64 in its semi-final.

The MEAC title game will be televised live on ESPN2.
