Delaware motorists saw another dip in the cost of filling their gas tanks this week – but the steady decline in price could be near and end.
AAA Mid-Atlantic reports the average price for a gallon of regular in Delaware dropped another four cents over the past 7 days - falling from $1.68 a week ago to $1.64 this week. And that’s 66 cents below the $2.30 stations were charging a year ago.
Delawaregasprices.com reports 10 stations across all three countries selling for $1.57 or less. The cheapest reported price is $1.49 at a station in Newark.
But prices nationwide actually rose for the first time in nearly three week – up a penny to $1.71 a gallon.
AAA officials says drivers should expect prices to start rising again as the return to summer-blend gasoline May 1st gets closer and refineries do annual maintenance. They say that combination means prices are likely to be a good deal higher by Memorial Day.
