'Melomanie' prepares for latest virtual concert

A second downtown Wilmington arts organization is providing virtual music offerings this holiday season.

Melomanie’s five-member ensemble is presenting a series of 30-minute streamed concerts.

The concerts are called "Mélomanie's Virtual Series."

Their performances include the ensemble's signature baroque and contemporary repertoire,as well as interwoven cutaway interviews with guest composers.

Melomanie’s Virtual Series continues this Saturday with the group’s second show on its https://vimeo.com/478604142">Vimeo channel.

“What we’re going to do is feature the three new CD’s that we have coming out," said Tracy Richardson, a harpsichordist and co-artistic director for Melomanie. "And we’ll have baroque music and we’ll have pieces that were written for Melomanie fairly recently - played live - and from our albums. And we’ll have in each program, two interviews with composers who have written pieces for us.”

Richardson says Saturday’s concert includes a performance of a movement from (Georg Phillipp) Telemann’s Paris Quartet in A Major.  It premieres at 3 p.m. and will also include a short interview by Richardson with composer Suzanne Sorkin o her piece, a hint of light remains; a gamba solo by Donna Fournier, Partita in G Minor by August Kuhnel, another brief interview by ensemble violinist Christof Richter with composer Richard Belcastro on his work, Buddleja Davidii.

Here is one piece you will hear if you tune in to Saturday's concert:
