The Delaware Division of Public Health is reporting two more flu deaths, placing the total at 30 on the season. This breaks the previous record of 28 deaths during the 2014-2015 season.
The recently deceased were both over the age of 80, and as with most flu-related deaths this year, had underlying health issues.
DPH has counted 7,071 laboratory-confirmed flu cases this season, breaking the previous record of 4,554 set last year.
The number of flu cases in Delaware peaked a few weeks ago, but is still circulating throughout the state.
Health officials advise those experiencing flu-like symptoms to stay home from school and work and seek medical treatment.
