Watch Live: Gov. Carney coronavirus briefing

State of Delaware

Gov. Carney announced last week he is delaying a move to Phase 3 of the state's reopening plan. Today, he's expected to address what's next in the state's response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

He and state public health officials cited a rise in COVID-19 cases in Delaware beach communities that included people known to have atteended parties and other large gatherings as a key reason for the delay.

They also expressed concern about the lack of compliance with wearing face coverings and social distancing in beach communities.

Carney and the Division of Public Helath are urging people at beaches or who have recently visited to get tested and are ramping up awareness of testing events available in the that area.

Gov. John Carney holds his latest press briefing on the state's reponse to the pandemic Tuesday. He is also scheduled to sign the state's budget bills as the General Assembly completes its session today.
