The Delaware State Chamber of Commerce named philanthropists Gerret and Tatiana Copeland its Josiah Marvel Cup Award winners this year.
The award was given at the Chamber’s annual dinner Mondaynight at Wilmington’s Chase Center on the Riverfront.
The Marvel Cup was established in 1951 and honors a Delawarean who has made an outstanding contribution to the state, community, or society.
Gerret Copeland is a member of the du Pont family and started his New York Soc Exchange brokerage firm. He helped establish the Brandywine Conservancy in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania and and currently serves as chairman of the Delaware Art Museum. He is also active with Longwood Gardens, The Mount Cuba Center.
Tatiana Copeland started her career at Price Waterhouse, then worked at DuPont Company’s European headquarters in Geneva before returning to DuPont in Delaware. She currently serves on the board of The Grand Opera House and chaired the Delaware Symphony Orchestra.
The Marvel Cup State Chamber’s highest honor - named after Josiah Marvel, who served as the chamber’s first president in 1913.
