Unemployment in the First State dipped again in December.
The State Department of Labor says Delaware’s jobless rate slipped another tenth of a point last month, falling from 3.8 to 3.7%.
It marks the third straight month of declining unemployment in the state and pushes Delaware below the national unemployment rate – which rose to 3.9% in December.
It’s only the second time in 2018 the First State’s jobless rate was lower than the national rate.
The Labor Department also reports the state added over 10,000 jobs in 2018 – a 2.2% growth rate. The national rate for the year was 1.8%.
But the Labor Department notes that annual revisions to the data will be made between now and the beginning of March, and it’s likely those revisions will lower the state’s job growth rate.
