The First State continues to see an alarming rise in COVID-19 cases.
Delaware added 649 new cases Thursday. That’s the state’s highest single day rise in cases ever.
The state also announced 4 new deaths, pushing Delaware’s coronavirus death toll to 746.
Delaware’s seven day rolling average for new cases also hit another record high. That average is now more than 398 cases per day.
Statewide hospitalizations continue to rise, hitting 170, the highest since late May. There are 26 people in Delaware currently considered critically ill with the virus.
The average percentage of people testing positive remains at nearly 15 percent. And the average percentage of positive tests is now at 5.9 percent.
New restrictions announced by Gov. John Carney this week go into effect Monday at 8 am. They include restricting all indoor public gatherings and restaurants to 30 percent of a venue’s fire code capacity with 50-person cap. Private gatherings in homes can have no more than 10 people.
