Delaware sees fifth straight day without a COVID-19 death

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

No COVID-19 deaths were announced in Delaware again Monday.    The state’s death toll remains at 507 for a fifth straight day.

The Division of Public Health says it is the longest stretch the state has gone without a virus-related death since the first was reported in Delaware on March 26th.

State health officials did announce 150 new cases. The total of positive cases since March 11th is now 11,376.

New Castle County added 106 cases, moving past the 5,000 in total cases to date.   Twenty-nine cases were added in Sussex County. But, the state is urging people in Delaware’s beach communities to get tested after testing events in Rehoboth and Dewey Beach.

Last week, there were about 112 cases.  The Division of Public Health said it already knows some of those people recently attended parties, potentially spreading the virus.

Current hospitalizations dropped by 6 to 72 with 15 people critically ill.

And, over 98,000 Delawareans have tested negative for COVID-19 since March 11th.
