Mar 2, 2020

Comedienne Paula Poundstone is back Delaware this week - performing this Friday, March 6, 2020 at Wilmington’s Grand Opera House.

The comedy veteran is probably best recognized by NPR fans as a regular panelist on the weekly news quiz show, Wait Wait...Don’t Tell  Me, which airs on Delaware Public Media on Saturday afternoon at noon and Sundays at 11 a.m.

Poundstone says at this week’s Wilmington show she expects to talk about raising a household full of kids and animals and paying attention to the news - sometimes - so that she can cast a knowledgeable vote in the upcoming Presidential election in November.

“I have the greatest job in the entire world. I get to stand in front of a group of people who have come out to laugh for the night and say things that I think are funny," said Poundsone. "It’s really science - you know I get that happy chemical in my head, in the same way the audience does.”

Poundstone has been performing for 41 years and was the first woman to host the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. She says her current obsession with the upcoming Presidential election.

“I have to restrain myself not to talk about it more because I have a theory that Trump has an investment in digestive medications - and that that’s part of what motivates him. I think it’s making me ill honestly,” Poundstone said.
