CheckPoint StrikeForce nets 6 DUI arrests statewide

Delaware Office of Highway Safety

Six motorists were arrested for driving under the influence during last weekend’s CheckPoint StrikeForce campaign in Delaware.

The Delaware Office of Highway Safety coordinated DUI checkpoints in all three counties on overnight last Saturday.  Working with the Delaware State Police and local law enforcement, three checkpoints were set up across the state.

OHS calls this edition of Checkpoint Strikeforce extremely successful, noting it believes statewide media coverage discouraged many impaired drivers from taking to the roads.

In addition to the six DUI arrests, officers made 96 other arrests or citations, including 17 for not wearing seatbelts and 12 drug arrests. One wanted person was also apprehended.

The next Checkpoint Strikeforce is scheduled for September 1st.
