Rep. Blunt Rochester launches re-election bid

Delaware Public Media

Congresswoman Lisa Blunt Rochester is running for reelection.

In 2016, she won the First State’s lone U.S. House seat, becoming both the first woman and the first person of color to represent Delaware in Congress.

Blunt Rochester announced she’s seeking another term in a campaign video.

The video touts her positions on issues like school safety, equality for women and small business development in Delaware.

“I’ve spent my entire career working to ensure that all Delawareans have the opportunities they deserve and that didn’t stop when I went to Congress,” said Blunt Rochester.

Blunt Rochester has sponsored legislation to expand Medicare, simplify the Federal student loan process and provide more federal funding for small business startup programs.

The Democrat sits on the House Committee on Agriculture and the House Committee on Education and the Workforce.

So far, she is the only candidate filed to run for Delaware’s U.S. House seat.
