Another round of winter weather coming for parts of Delaware

Delaware Public Media

The First State is bracing for the second half of a 1-2 winter weather punch.

More snow, sleet and freezing rain are expected after a similar combination made a mess of the Monday morning commute in the northern and central parts of Delaware.

New Castle County saw the most snowfall Monday, with over two inches in most areas and nearly three in places like Port Penn and White Clay Creek.  The Dover area saw about a half inch of snow.

That prompted all school districts in New Castle County and central Delaware to close.  Delaware State University also cancelled classes.

The National Weather Service says New Castle County can expected another round of wintry mix late Monday afternoon into Tuesday morning. 1-3 inches of snow and sleet are possible before its changes over to rain late morning Tuesday.

The change to rain is expected earlier in the Dover area,  and the less than a half-inch of snow and sleet is forecast for central Delaware.

Sussex County is expected to see rain only Monday night into Tuesday.
