Code Purple declarations issued in all three Delaware counties

Delaware Public Media

A winter storm warning is in effect for all of Delaware until 7 p.m. today, with snow totals ranging from 4 to 8 inches. Cold weather, with temperatures in the teens, will follow Thursday night into Friday.

There are several warming centers and overnight sanctuaries open throughout the First Dtate, including the Salvation Army overnight shelter in Wilmington, the Milford Community Center in Kent County, and the Immanuel Emergency Shelter in Rehoboth Beach.

Code purple sites say they are low on supplies because of all the extreme cold and snow this winter. Items needed include sleeping bags, pre-cooked or frozen meals, instant hot drinks, and bottled water.

To get connected to Code Purple resources, call Delaware 211, or search for “Code Purple” on the Delaware 211 mobile app or on its website.
