The first NASCAR weekend of the year in Dover concludes Sunday with the marquee event.

The Sprint Cup “AAA 400 Drive for Autism” is on tap Sunday afternoon with Jimmie Johnson looking to drive his way to victory lane again on the Monster Mile.

Rain Friday afternoon washed out qualifying – putting points leader Kevin Harvick on the pole by virtue of his car posting the top practice time Friday morning.

But the driver to watch every time NASCAR hits the Monster Mile is Johnson.

He owns a record 10 Sprint Cup wins at Dover.  He’s taken 3 of the last 5 races here – including the one last spring

Johnson says it feels good to drive here.

“I’ve been very fortunate to have success at the Cup level and then to have just incredible success here at Dover is something I’m very proud of and enjoy," said Johnson. "And just the experience of in the car to have my favorite track to drive turn out to be one of my most successful racetracks at this point in my career –it’s just cool to see that converge and come together.”

Johnson will have to work from the back of the back today.  Based on his practice run Friday he starts 21st when the Green flag drops at 1 pm

XFINITY series rookie Erik Jones tamed the Monster Mile in Saturday’s “Ollies Bargain Outlet 200.” Jones led 76 laps - including the final 43 to earn his second XFINITY series win of the year and first career win at Dover.
