It was a quick exit for Delaware State University at the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) men’s basketball tournament in Norfolk, Virginia.
The Hornets fell to Savannah State 63-58 Monday night in the MEAC tourney’s opening round.
Dana Raysor’s three-pointer with 2:45 left to play gave DSU a 58-57 lead, but the Hornets were held scoreless the rest of the way.
Savannah State held MEAC Rookie of the Year Devin Morgan in check. The Hornets leading scorer managed just 6 points of 2-11 shooting.
Del State ends its season on a five game losing streak and finishes with a 7-25 record.
Delaware State hopes for a better fate in the MEAC women’s basketball tournament. The Lady Hornets face Florida A&M in an opening round contest Tuesday afternoon (Tuesday) at 2pm. DSU’s women are looking for their first MEAC Tournament win since 2013 and trying to avenge an 86-56 loss at Florida A&M during the regular season.
