Wesley College football lands in preseason Top 5 again

Wesley College football team is expected to be among the nation’s best in Division Three again this fall.

The D3football.com preseason poll is out and the Wolverines are ranked fifth in the country.  It’s the fifth straight year they will start the season in the top 5.

Defending national champ Wisconsin-Whitewater is the preseason number one.

Wesley returns 13 starters from last year’s squad that went 12-2 advanced to the NCAA Division III national semifinals before losing to Mount Union.

The Wolverines’ upcoming 2015 campaign will be their first as a member of the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC).  They are the only team in the league that is in the preseason top 25. Rowan and Christopher Newport received votes, but did not crack the Top 25.

Wesley has one ranked team on its schedule.  The Wolverines head to Illinois to face number 11 North Central September 26th

Wesley opens its season September 12th with a conference game at Frostburg State.
