Comcast COVID-19 response seeks to help keep customers connected to the internet

Comcast

As more people work at home because of  the COVID-19 pandemic, one internet company announced steps to help people stay connected.

Many companies in Delaware are encouraging employees to work remotely and students are seeing their school work shifted online.  And that means everyone needs reliable internet access.

“We’re offering new low-income Internet Essentials customers two months of free internet service and we’re also raising the speed of that program service to 25/3 Mbps,” said Sandra Arnette - Comcast’s senior manager of public relations.

She says Internet Essentials is normally available to qualified low-income households for $9.95 per month.

Arnette adds that with children learning from home, Comcast is also trying to assist with data usage, “So what we’re also offering is to pause our data plans for 60 days, giving all customers unlimited data at no extra charge.”

She notes Comcast is also offering other connectivity assistance, “In addition, we’re offering for the next 60 days, free Xfinity WiFi hotspots. And this is for anyone who needs them, anywhere across the country within our service area.”
