Gas prices remain on the rise in Delaware

Delaware Public Media

First State drivers saw another spike at the gas pump last week.

AAA Mid-Atlantic reports the average cost of a gallon of regular statewide is now $2.76. That’s up 9 cents from a week ago and 33 cents over the past six weeks.

And Delawaregasprices.com reports over a there’s just under a dozen stations charging $2.67 or less.

AAA says record level demand for gasoline in April, unrest in the Middle East and rising crude oil prices are to blame for prices continuing to rise this spring.

Prices in the First State are the lowest in the region.  A gallon of regular in the Philadelphia-area now averages $3.02. It’s $2.84 in South Jersey and $2.97 in Maryland.

The average cost of gas a gallon of regular nationally currently sits at $2.81.  That’s the highest it’s been since June 2015.
