Average price of gas in Delaware drops below $2.20

Delaware Public Media

First State motorists enjoyed more relief at the gas pump over the past seven days.

AAA Mid-Atlantic reports the average price for a gallon of regular fell another four cents over the past week to stand at $2.18. That’s 18 cents less than a month ago and a $1.10 below what First State drivers were paying a year ago.

Nationally, a gallon of regular held steady at $2.29.

Delawaregasprices.com reports nearly a dozen gas stations selling a gallon of regular at $2.08 or slightly less – all of them in New Castle County.

Triple-A says the relatively low cost of crude oil and abundant supply are fueling the low prices  - along with lower demand and the switch to cheaper winter blends that usually accompany the start of fall.
