The WLC was given $10 million in FY 2026 but could receive just $2 million if the proposed budget goes through.

The WLC operates across nine schools in three districts in Wilmington with the goal of improving student outcomes.

It reported Bayard School is seeing 9% of students grades 1-8 scoring at or above grade level in iReady math tests compared to 1% last year. 7% of Maurice Pritchett Sr. Academy students scored at or above grade level in iReady reading assessments at the beginning of the year, which rose to 17% by the end of the year.
