Nemours to start seeing patients at new primary care offices

Nemours is set to open its new pediatric center in Sussex County next week.

The primary care offices at the new Nemours site will start seeing patients on Monday.

The offices are part of the 35,000 square foot ground floor space Nemours is renting at one of the buildings on Bayhealth’s campus in Milford.

The primary care practices were moved to the Bayhealth Campus from a location off Route 113.

But – as Director of Special Projects Colleen Davis points out – Nemours is also adding new specialty pediatric practices to the Sussex location in the spring.

“So by bringing all our services closer to home, the hope is that it will make it easier for families, that maybe they don’t have to take full day off and they can just run over on lunch time to bring a child for their appointment, or at the end of the day their not driving two hours to North Wilmington and back again,” said Davis.

The new site will include behavioral health practices, along with physical therapy, cardiology and a list of other specialty practices.

Dr. Suzanne Bagas is provider in charge of the primary care office. She welcomes having all of the practices under one roof.

“The ability to be in the same place with specialists to whom we refer often, and we’ll be able to order x-rays and things for our patients that they otherwise would have had to leave our facility for to go somewhere else to get, but now they may have it all on site,” said Bagas.

Nemours is also soon set to open a geriatric center on the same site but separated from the pediatic care space.

The health system is also using telehealth and a special office with a separate entrance on site to treat COVID-positive patients.
