Two students at the University of Delaware are being screened for the new coronavirus.
UD officials were notified by the Delaware Division of Public Health about the screenings for possible cases of the 2019 novel coronavirus.
UD maintains the risk to the community remains low, and it is sharing this preliminary information out of an abundance of caution.
The students being screened do not live on campus and are currently in isolation at an area hospital. The university, in a statement Tuesday, says they are safe and receiving care.
The Division of Public Health is coordinating with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on the testing. Results are expected back in days.
As of now, there are no confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus in Delaware. An individual in Kent County was tested earlier this month and the results of that test were negative.
The Division also this month increased monitoring of people traveling from China at the request of the CDC.
