Delaware Public Media

Kevin Harvick grabbed second half of this weekend’s NASCAR Cup series doubleheader at Dover International Speedway Sunday.Harvick led 223 of 311 laps to take the checkered flag in the “Drydene 311,”  giving him his seventh win this season and his third career Cup Series victory on the Monster Mile.

The win also locks up the Cup series regular season title for Harvick with one race left next weekend in Daytona.

Martin Truex Jr. finished second.  Jimmie Johnson, a record 11-time winner in Dover, finished third in his final race on the Monster Mile. Johnson is retiring at the end of the current season.

This weekend’s racing was held without fans due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

NASCAR will return to Dover next year, but the track will host only one race, instead of two.  NASACR annoucned in June one of the Dover races is Nashville Superspeedway in Tennessee.

The Nashville track – like Dover International Speedway - is owned by Dover Motorsports, Inc.
