Gov. Carney eases restrictions on outdoor seating

State of Delaware

Gov. John Carney is easing Coronavirus restrictions on some businesses and youth sports.

Carney’s latest emergency order update adjusts outdoor dining rules, allowing parties eating outside to gather in tables of up to ten.

This comes the same day the CDC announced vaccinated individuals no longer need to wear a mask outdoors unless in a crowd.

The new emergency order also eases requirements for all businesses to clean and sanitize surfaces frequently. Carney says that’s because of new discoveries on how Coronavirus spreads, mainly through the air rather than on surfaces.

Carney’s order also clarifies mask wearing requirements for youth sports, following guidance from the Division of Public Health.

Carney is suspending DIAA mask mandates in baseball, golf, girls’ lacrosse, girls' soccer, softball, tennis, and track and field. Masks must be worn on sidelines, but are not needed when actively participating in a practice or game.
