A former Wilmington Fire Department Union president gets 60 months in prison for possessing child pornography.
Joseph Leonetti, Jr. was sentenced on Wednesday in Federal court in Wilmington. That includes five years of supervised release after he serves his time in prison.
Authorities seized Leonetti’s cellphone at his Wilmington home on June 19, 2020, and forensic review found videos and cached images of child pornography.
Investigators also found he had deleted evidence from his phone when he saw law enforcement arrive.
That included a social media app Leonetti used to chat in a group dedicated to pedophilia, and upload a video of child pornography.
Investigators also discovered links to folders with cloud-based file storage services that contained additional child pornography images.
Leonetti pled guilty to one count of possessing child pornography in April.
