The state’s budget bills are all on their way to Gov. John Carney’s desk
House lawmakers passed the final pieces of the 2021 budget Monday, approving the Bond and Grant-in-Aid bills.
Bond Bill co-chair State Rep. Debra Heffernan (D-Bellefonte) notes the state’s capital spending plan is significantly smaller than anticipated.
“In January, the Bond bill, as part of the Governor's recommended budget, was gonna be the biggest one ever, after even last year of $893 million. Instead, due to Coronavirus and other losses of revenue, we are presenting a budget, a capital budget, of $708 Million.”
The Grant-in-Aid bill is largely the same as this year’s allocation, totalling $54.4 million to fund nonprofits, senior centers and volunteer fire companies.
Both bills passed with little debate or objection.
