The First State sees another jump in new COVID-19 cases and virus-related deaths

The 591 cases reported in Delaware Saturday is second only to the 656 reported November 19.

That pushes the state’s seven day rolling average for daily cases to 483.6, the highest it has ever reached.

And the latest seven-day average for the percent of positive tests from Thursday is 6 percent. That’s the highest it’s been early June.

Hospitalizations were also up Saturday - hitting 21. That's the most Delaware has seen since May 23. 31 people considered critically ill.

The state also reports seven more virus-related deaths. Delaware’s death toll is now at 770.

The total number of cases has now surpassed 35,000, reaching 35,251 since the start of the pandemic.
