Delaware’s number of new COVID-19 cases remained below 800 for a second straight day, but hospitalizations are still on the rise.
Health officials say the state recorded 789 new cases Thursday. That comes after 645 Wednesday, the lowest daily total in a week.
The latest numbers put Delaware’s 7-day rolling average at nearly 769 new cases daily.
And the record number of COVID-related hospitalizations statewide is up again. That number rose 14 Thursday to 363 with 49 people in critical condition.
The state also reports one new death, a Sussex County resident over 80 with underlying health conditions. That pushes Delaware’s death toll from the virus to 807.
Delaware’s seven day rolling percentage of positive tests did tick down Thursday, holding below 10 at 9.5 percent.
Delaware is approaching 44,000 confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 out of more than 800,000 tests.
The state is averaging more than 7,300 tests per day.
