2019 Governor's Awards for the Arts nomination deadline approaches

The Delaware Division of the Arts is looking for nominations for the 2019 Governor’s Awards for the Arts.";

The deadline is quickly approaching to submit nominations for the 2019 Governor’s Awards for the Arts.

Delaware’s Governor’s Awards for the Arts recognize the contributions of individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions and a lasting and profound impact on the artistic and cultural life of Delaware.

 

“We like to make sure that leaders and individuals in the State and organizations that are really doing excellent work and impacting the citizens of the State and visitors - we like to acknowledge them and award them these prestigious awards for the work that they’re doing," said Kristin Pleasanton is the deputy director of the Delaware Division of the Arts.

 

Nominations are being accepted until June 28, 2019.

 

Pleasanton says nominees should be Delaware residents or an organization or business based in Delaware.

 

Pleasanton says the Awards have been handed out for quite a number of years, “The earliest Awards were awarded in 1970 with Gov. Russell Peterson. And they are held every two to six years, depending on when the Governor would like to have them.”                                                        

Pleasanton says categories for this years Awards include: Arts Administration, Arts Education, Arts Patron, Community Engagement and Government.
