Special election to fill empty New Castle Co. Council seat

Delaware Public Media

Residents in one part of New Castle County head to the polls to decide who will represent them on County Council.

A special election to fill the vacant seat in District 1 is Tuesday.

Democrat Ken Woods and Republican Doug Suiter are vying to replace Councilman Joseph Reda [reh-duh], who died last month after serving on New Castle County Council since 2004.

Woods is a business representative for the Sheet Metal Workers' Union Local 19 and has been on the Red Clay School District School Board since 2008.

Suiter owns his own auto repair shop – General Automotive.  He’s also been an arbitrator for the National Center for Dispute Settlement – which handles automobile manufacturers' warranty disputes – for 15 years.

The polls are open from 7am until 8am
