Candidates set for New Castle Co. Council special election

Delaware Public Media

Democrats and Republicans have settled on candidates for a New Castle County Council special election later this month.

Democrat Ken Woods and Republican Doug Suiter are seeking to fill the District 1 seat on council that is vacant following the death of Councilman Joseph Reda last month.

Reda had served on New Castle County Council since 2004.

Woods is a business representative for the Sheet Metal Workers' Union Local 19 and has been on the Red Clay School District School Board since 2008.

Suiter owns his own auto repair shop – General Automotive.  He’s also been an arbitrator for the National Center for Dispute Settlement – which handles automobile manufacturers' warranty disputes – for 15 years.

The special election for the New Castle County Council District 1 seat is May 24th.
