Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

Delaware announced over 100 new COVID-19 cases for the first time this month.

State health officials reported 112 new cases Friday bringing the overall total to 10,611 since March 11th.

52 of the new cases were in New Castle County bringing its total 4,522 to date – most of the state’s three counties.

Two new COVID-19 deaths were also announced, pushing the state’s death toll to 433.

The latest victims were a New Castle County woman and a Sussex County woman. Both were over 68 with underlying health conditions.  One lived at a long-term care facility.

Current hospitalizations dropped by 4 and now stand at 75 with 15 people critically.  But the five-day averages of percentage of people testing positive has ticked up in recent days.

45 more people are considered recovered, lifting the total in Delaware to 6,395.

And, nearly 80,000 Delawareans have tested negative for the coronavirus.

The state also updated its statistics on the spread of COVID-19 at long-term care facilities.

DPH reports long-term care facility residents accounted for 1,112 of the state’s positive COVID-19 cases – up 86 from a week ago.  They’ve also had 278 of Delaware’s 433 deaths – up 15 from last Friday. DPH also notes 450 positive cases, and one death among workers at those facilities.

To date, 32 long-term care facilities statewide have recorded at least one COVID-19 related death. 10 of those facilities have had 10 or more deaths. Harrison House Senior Living in Georgetown and Genesis Healthcare's Milford Center have had the most deaths, with 35 and 31 respectively.
