Dover Air Force Base loosens facility restrictions amid COVID-19 pandemic

Delaware Public Media
As the current environment continues to evolve amidst concerns of COVID-19, Dover AFB is loosening base access, commissary and pharmacy restrictions.

Dover Air Force Base is loosening base access, commissary and pharmacy restrictions Monday.

Base facilities were previously restricted to active-duty service members and their families, with the exception of Wednesdays and Saturdays due to COVID-19 concerns

436th Airlift Wing commander Col. Matthew Jones says base access returns to previous operations Monday with some exceptions.

The exceptions include 100 percent DoD ID card checks and suspension of the trusted traveler and visitor pass programs.

Col. Jones says the commissary will be open Tuesday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.  Access will be limited to 75 people at a time to maintain social distancing and cloth face coverings remain mandatory.

He says the pharmacy will return to normal operating hours, weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday service is eliminated and curbside pick-up remains in place during operating hours.
