Delaware Memorial Bridge continues to break traffic records

DRBA

The Delaware Memorial Bridge continues to break traffic records.

The Delaware River and Bay Authority (DRBA) says in January and February, the bridge saw 1,315,342 and 1,245,122 vehicles go through the southbound toll plaza.

Old records for those months were from January 2006 and February 2004.

The Delaware Memorial Bridge has registered nine consecutive months of record traffic volume dating back to June 2019.

DRBA officials attribute the record-breaking volume in part to a warm winter and the absence of snow and/or ice that generally alter travel plans.

They also say a strong economy and reasonable gas prices through the winter months helped encourage travel.
